There is a spoiler in this journal...you have been warned! :shakefist:

:wow: Grand Theft Auto 5 is an amazing game in a lot of different ways.  The size and scope of it is mind blowing.  To have three main characters, to switch between those characters at almost any given time, adds more depth to the game.  In a way, it gives you three characters that that could have been in previous GTA games, and has them work together.

There was however one moment I didn't like the game...
...not even a little bit.

I will admit, I like Franklin, I like Michael, I don't like playing Trevor however.  He's rude, grotesque, and bullies people.  I've known a lot of Trevors in my life.  Drawing upon that, I applaud Rockstar for making a character that I don't like, those are just as important as the characters I do like.  That's not my problem with the game though.  No, my problem comes with the now infamous "torture scene."

For a game that offers the player a lot of choice in how they get around the city, what route to take, where to park a getaway car, which character do I use for this moment, how do I accomplish a heist, and so on, it really pigeon holes you in this scene.  Even with a game that can be a bit cheeky, the graphics have definitely been stepped up a notch in this title.  The voice acting is pretty good too.  So when I have to torture someone and I don't get a say in it, it makes the game feel really limited.

Heck, in that scene you're playing Trevor, the one character that ALWAYS does the opposite of anything that he's being told to do! (he even does as such at the end of that particular mission)  That's the caveat to making a game like that.  For such a horrific moment, you need to give the player the choice to back out, fail, take the easy way out, make the other guy do it, something.

 Once I realized I couldn't do anything but torture the guy, I did what I felt like was the only option to keep him alive without damaging him to a point where he couldn't function.  I sickenly pulled out a few of his teeth.  He can live without a few of those (not if I cooked him to a crisp or maimed him).  After that mission was done, I turned off my xbox and went to bed.  That moment actually took away some of the fun for me and broke the illusion of choice this game (thus far) had setup.  I can understand needing a story to play out a certain way.  But the story takes on a different feel, a different shape whether you're watching something play out, or as a player, causing it to play out.  That moment, to me, is the only blemish so far that Grand Theft Auto 5 has.

Thanks for reading guys.  If you would like to discuss, feel free to leave a comment below!

LOLZ, my sister bought the game this month and she's playing it...
She's disappointed whenever she took the character a stroll to Stripclub... :XD: The bouncer just kick the character out...

BTW, it is a shame though... :(
